What's Being Read Now Latest Update: 1/22/05
Managed to do a good update of what's coming up for some of our favorite authors. In addition, did a little house cleaning around the site. Fixing a bunch of errors and also, removing one major section. I'd been wrestling with the idea of pulling the Writing section for a while, and finally did. I felt it wasn't overly professional pushing my own, admittedly, average writing while at the same time, critiquing those good enough to at least get published. Maybe at some point, I'll put it up, as a separate page, but for now it's gone. Hoping to have some more reviews up soon.

Right now, I'm reading anotherAlastair Reynolds'. This time, it's Redemption Ark, the third in the series and so far this one is my favorite. A very good book. I also have a queue of reviews I need to do, including Cowl by Asher, Broken Angels by Morgan, Cosmonaut Keep & Dark Light by MacLeod, Illium, the newest by Dan Simmons and The Bridge by Banks. Needless to say, I'm way behind but I'm trying.
New & Upcoming Releases Latest Update: 1/22/05
Here's a quick list of what is out there recently from authors reviewed here or stuff that is coming very soon.

Straight from the horse's mouth (and based on the track record, he's the only one we should listen to) as of 1/17/05, regarding George R.R. Martin's sequel: 'I said that I hoped to have the book done by the end of the year. Famous last words. No, it's not done, though I am getting closer. I have more than thirteen hundred pages in final draft form and another hundred or so in roughs or fragments, but there are still some chapters yet to write. I'm telling myself that I'm on the home stretch.'
According to his website, Michael Marshall Smith has a new one called, Blood of Angels coming out on 6/6/05 for the UK and 9/05 for the US. Looks like this is a follow up to The Straw Men and the Upright Man books. Also, seems as if he's flipped his name to Michael Marshall for these books. Let's hope he gets back to the sci-fi soon.
Some Lethem news, but on the movie front. Looks like they are releasing a movie for Motherless Brooklyn. Edward Norton, wrote the screenplay, directed and also stars as Lionel. Supposed to come out the summer of '05, and being a big fan of Norton's (Rounders, Fight Club) I'm looking forward to this one.
Neal Asher just keeps cranking them out. According to his website, he has a new one titled Brass Man (the plot of this sounds very cool by the way) coming out 4/15/05. He also has a second one listed, called The Voyage of Sable Keech, set for an early '06 release, which is obviously based on the character from The Skinner.
March of '05 is the due date for Richard Morgan's newest book titled Woken Furies. In this one looks like Kovacs is heading home to Harlan's World. Should be interesting.
The Killing of Worlds is the title for Scott Westerfeld's latest and is slated for a 2/1/05 release. No details, but the cover is the same style as the Risen Empire books, so I'm assuming it's part of that series.
Dan Simmons is releasing the sequel to his latest, Illium, which will be titled Olypmos. It's set to release on 7/1/05.
Book 4 of the Karloff's Circus series by Steve Aylett was release in the UK on 1/13/05. It's titled the Wonderland of a sick Alice.
